Caregiver Qualifications

If you are interested in joining the agency as a Respite Provider or a Treatment Foster Care Parent.

Qualifications

 

Respite Caregiver

·       Be at least 18 years of age, but must be 21 to transport and 25 years of age for overnight respite

·       Be either a U.S. citizen or otherwise eligible to be employed in the U.S.

·       Have at least a high school diploma or GED

·       Agree to and successfully pass local, state, federal background checks which include but are not limited to fingerprinting, office of inspector general, motor vehicle, courts, abuse and neglect background checks

·       At least 3 years of working with the target population

·       At least 3 references, these must be from current or former employers, teachers, internship or volunteer activities, or some other similar type of reference

·       Submit a completed application and addendum documents

o   Disaster and evacuation plan (in-home respite)

o   Safety Agreement 

·       Submit verifications

o   Driver’s license

o   Vehicle insurance

o   Vehicle registration

o   SSN card

o   Home/renter’s insurance (in-home respite)

o   Pet vaccinations (in-home respite)

·       Obtain and maintain required certification training

·       Agree to and sign agreement to follow agency Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct, and Contract
